Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
A serious injury to junior starter Audrey Juelfs (see photo below) was a devastating blow to the Potter-Dix girls in the first game of the Kimball Invitation four-school tournament this past Friday afternoon. The clock showed 5:20 left in the opening quarter of the game with Dundy County-Stratton when Juelfs went down hard with the back of her head banging the hardwoods, and with severe pain to her neck as well. Play was halted and the Kimball Emergency personnel was called. A complete delay of play for a 30 minute period occurred before play resumed. The loss of Juelfs was huge as the Lady Coyotes are limited with quality depth.
Potter-Dix was able to keep the game close the first half, trailing the talented DCS team 12-8 at the quarter break and ended up losing 56-38. Aubrey Frederick was high for the winners with 20 and Grace Frederick had 13. For the Coyotes, Alexus Rozelle poured in 14 points with one trey, Dawson Sharman had 11, Payge Hoffman 9 and Trinity Langley had 4.

Potter-Dix met up with Morrill for the consolation game to decide third place and lost 60-29. Morrill was led by Jessica Harvey with 20 points and Kaitlynn Margheim with 17. Only three players scored for the Coyotes with Langley and Rozelle both with 10 points and Sharman with nine. The Lady Coyotes had 12 two-point field goals and were 5/19 at the foul line. The winners had 14 two-point field goals, seven three-pointers, and were 11/13 at the line. Potter-Dix officials said they have no information as to when Juelfs may return but will await the outcome of examinations scheduled for this week.
