Kimball's administrator search nears the end

The City of Kimball received 13 applications for the City Administrator position, open since Oct. 21 of this year, when former administrator, Daniel Ortiz, accepted a position in Webster City, Iowa.

A committee, comprised of City Council and Board of Public Works members, reviewed applications and narrowed the field down to just two finalists.

On Monday, Dec. 19, that committee will oversee interviews with these two finalists:

*Dan Dean, the former Town Manager of Mead, Colo., has more than 30 years of experience in local government management. Dean has been a city manager in Colorado, Nebraska and Oregon and holds a master’s degree in public administration from Indiana University.

*Edith Ball is in her ninth year with the City of Ida Grove, Iowa as City Clerk, which includes city manager responsibilities. She was the City Clerk/Treasurer at the City of Little Sioux, Little Sioux, IA for three years and holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Oregon State University.

The interviews will be conducted at the Kimball Event Center by a professional interviewer, according to Kimball Mayor Keith Prunty. The process will begin with Dean’s interview at 1:15 p.m., with Ball’s interview scheduled for 2:30.

The public is invited to attend, but public questions and comments will not be heard during the interview process.

Prunty encourages citizens to attend a social gathering following the interview process, scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
