Just before the snow started falling on Tuesday, Jan. 3rd, Z&S Construction started tearing down the house south of the fire department on Webster Street. According to Dave Haack of Z&S Construction, a 320 Caterpillar Excavator with a 'thumb' was used to not only demolish, but pick up and remove, the entire house in just about 48 hours. Even the basement was entirely removed successfully without trouble. Approximately fifteen semi-trailer loads of debris was hauled to the landfill for disposal.

The first of this week, after temperatures finally rose above freezing, Z&S was able to fill in the hole and level the lot with a dozer. Z&S donated their time and equipment to the endeavor. The fire department will eventually use the area as a much needed parking lot.
