Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball Banner County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting, Jan. 9, 2017, featured an Italian buffet. Pastor Alan Foutz of the Kimball Presbyterian Church delivered the Invocation and President Josh Enevoldsen led the assembled members of the business community in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Over 55 members enjoyed the meal and networking social. At 6:45 PM the meeting was called to order. After opening remarks, President Enevoldsen turned the presentation to Jo Caskey, Chamber Director. The power point she shared explained the purpose of Chamber and how they evolve. The Kimball Banner Chamber has been in the process of evolving from Stage I, where they have functioned since their inception in 1954 to Stage II. The board has been working to grow the Chamber into a more active business advocate role.
Following the presentation, the attending members voted to adopt the 2017 budget as presented. They approved the 2017 slate of officers: President Dawn Moser, Hometown Floral & Gifts; Vice-President Geneva Withrow, Associate Member; Secretary Annette Brower, Kimball County Assessor's Office; and Treasurer Adrian Fuss DDS, Kimball Family Dentistry. A ballot of three potential board members was presented: Jamie Carpenter, Points West Insurance; Jackie Prather, Shopko; and Jeri Rutledge, Main Street Market. Filling the two empty board positions will be Jamie Carpenter and Jeri Rutledge.
The awards presentations wrapped up the evening. Shane Hays of Hays Roofing and Siding was presented the Community Investment Award for his exterior restoration and interior renovation of the building on main street that now houses his business.
The Community Impact Award had dual winners. First was the Kimball area community, including a 50 mile radius, for their support of the second recipient. The co-award holder was the Friends of the Goodhand for their leadership in renovating and operating the Goodhand Theatre. Keith Prunty, as Kimball's Mayor, accepted on behalf of the area residents and as Friends of the Goodhand Vice-President, he accepted on behalf of the board.
The last presentation of the evening is reserved for the Friends of the Chamber Award. This year Bob and Susie Abramson were recognized for the multiple businesses in Kimball, their association with many local organizations, and their support of the Chamber.
