Janis J. Osweiler, age 85 of Potter, NE entered eternal rest at Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care in Sidney, NE, Sunday, February 5, 2017.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 3, 2017 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sidney with Pastor Bradley Heinecke officiating. Inurnment will be held following the ceremony in the Potter Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday to sign Janis' register book and drop off condolences for the family. Janis Joan (Siemers) Osweiler was born in Gurley, NE on December 28, 1931, the daughter of Eduard and Sophie (Sudman) Siemers. She attended school in Gurley through the 8th grade and graduated from Sidney High School in 1950. Janis worked in banking in Sidney, NE and Denver, CO for approximately 20 years. During this time she met Frank Osweiler. They were married in Denver, CO on September 1, 1972. In 1978 they moved to Potter where they owned and operated the Potter Sundry. They returned to Denver in 1980 to manage a high-rise apartment building for 10 years. Upon leaving, they relocated to California where they worked as a traveling relief management team for Motel 6. They returned to Potter, NE for retirement where Janis spent her remaining years.
Survivors include: (1) brother: Gene Siemers of North Platte, NE, (2) sisters: Shirley Madden of Potter, NE and Carol Henke of Knoxville, TN, along with several nieces and nephews who all loved her very much.
Janis was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers.
