Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Movie goers this past weekend noticed a major improvement at the Goodhand Theatre. The auditorium was a comfortable temperature. No blankets were needed, even though a few people brought them, not knowing that the new heating and air conditioning system has finally been installed.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Union Pacific Foundation and a Greater Good grant from the Panhandle Partnership, the old, original furnace, pictured above, has been replaced. The new equipment, pictured at right, was purchased from and installed by A & L Sales and Service of Kimball.
"It's amazing how huge the old furnace was compared to this new, more efficient one," Friends of the Goodhand President Adrian Fuss said. "It really makes a difference in the comfort level in the auditorium."
"The two grants combined covered the cost of the equipment and the installation, with a little left over," stated Jo Caskey, Secretary/Treasurer. "The remaining funds will be used to repair and insulate the outside walls of the furnace room. Currently, there are cracks and air leaks and no insulation. We need to correct that so the furnace runs as efficiently as possible."
