Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
A motion was made, and ultimately approved, to add Grandfather Rights in section 4.02 of the Kimball County Planning and Zoning regulations and to add non-conforming uses to Section 25.01 at the recent Kimball County Board of Commissioner’s meeting.
“We have new amendments that were adopted by the County Commissioners by resolution for County Zoning regulations,” said Kimball County Zoning Administrator Sheila Newell.
Further changes were adopted for the following seven amendments: Section 4.02 Definitions: add borrow pit and excavation and amend commercial use. Section 5.05.07 delete “Asphalt or concrete batch plant and borrow pit used temporarily and exclusively for completion of a public road improvement project” and amend with “A non-commercial borrow pit for personal use.” Section 5.03.14 remove “of minerals” to read “Mining using excavation techniques.” Section 5.03.15 remove “and borrow pits” to read “Asphalt or concrete batch plant.” Section 6.02.6 delete “Asphalt or concrete catch plant and borrow pit used temporarily and exclusively for completion of a public road improvement project” and amend with “A non-commercial borrow pit for personal uses.” Section 6.03.13 remove “of minerals” to read “Mining using excavation techniques.” Finally, in Section 6.03.14 remove “and borrow pits” to read “Asphalt or concrete batch plant.”
Joe Singleton requested the commissioners rename approximately one mile of County Road 59, to Singleton Road. The short stretch of road dead ends at Singleton’s property.
The board has plans to set up a list of criteria that needs to be met to consider a name change for Singleton or for any similar request in the future. Once they decide on the criteria, a policy will need to be adopted, following that the County Commissioners will need a resolution. This matter will be continued at the next meeting Tuesday May 16, 2017.
