Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Mobile Emergency Command Center Region 21 rolled into town Tuesday May 16 to let the Kimball County Board of Commissioners tour the bus. Kimball just joined four other counties that this Mobile unit services on April 1 2017. If needed this bus will go out if a disaster happens, like a flood, tornado and set up. Once set up the command center has the capability of running communications for senior staff, which includes county commissioners, city officials to plan for an event .
The bus was purchased in 2012 by four counties, Cheyenne, Dual, Gorden, and Morrill. each of the four counties paid a participant fee, the Mobile Command Unit was purchased for $3,500.00 from the Nebraska Forestry Service also received were grants from Cabelas, nd Panhandle Public Health.
Sidney is where this big bus calls home, yet makes weekly visits to the other counties. There are 21 volunteer members, the volunteers now are from Morrill and Cheyenne County.
