CAPWN offers youth support in Kimball and neighboring counties

Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is dedicated to encouraging and sponsoring innovative youth programs. CAPWN has youth programs to offer the 11 counties of the Nebraska Panhandle, including Youth Shelter and Group Home, Rural Host Home Transitional Housing, Youth Leadership, Teen Outreach Program, and Supportive Housing both transitional and permanent.

The Panhandle Youth Shelter has served Kimball County since 1984. Throughout the past four years, CAPWN Youth Programs have served 16 youth from Kimball County, and has provided 43 nights of stay in 2016-2017. The majority of the youth in the shelter have been Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) placements or on probation that were awaiting a more permanent home or situation. There continues to be a high population of youth served in the shelter that are runaway or homeless youth or have been placed by parents in a crisis situation.

CAPWN is ready and willing to help, for more information please contact Betsy Vidlak, Director of Youth Programs at 308-645-3089 or via email at [email protected].
