Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Kimball welcomes a new business that is in the business of caring for and teaching young children. The Alphabet Academy has made its way to Kimball and is ready to care for local children aged 6 weeks and older.
Director Lindsey Lynch spoke to the Kimball City Council on Tuesday, July 18 and said she had become aware that more childcare was needed in Kimball.
“We are excited to provide quality child care in a learning environment,” she said.
Because the facility is not only a day care, but a preschool as well, all staff are required to take 30 hours of continued education annually, as well as, up to date CPR certification to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
This new business will be located on 102 W. 2nd Street where the Panhandle Mental Health building is currently. The rooms are divided into age groups – infants in one, toddlers aged 1-2 in another, and preschool aged 3-5 in a third.
Additional rooms are available for excess enrollment and the building is large enough for up to 50 children.
Currently the business has three employees hired, but they can hire more if enrollment increases prior to the opening date, which has not yet been decided.
The business is currently working with staff to license the staff and building, and they are anticipating an opening day in August.
Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and children will be served breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.
There will be an open enrollment on Friday, July 28, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Kimball Public Library Cultural Room or any interested parents can contact Lynch at (307)245-9206.
