Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball-Banner Counties Fair Grounds in Kimball was the place to be Aug. 26 as beautiful young ladies from our area displayed the best of their talents in horsemanship, personal interviews, speech, appearance and personalities, as they competed for the titles of Kimball Rodeo Queen and Princess for the coming 2018 year.
Last year's princess, Nicole Delaplane, will have the honor of representing Kimball as next year's Queen. She is currently a sophomore at Kimball High School and is the daughter of Cheryl Delaplane of Kimball.
Miss McKynna Deeds will represent us as 2018 Princess. McKynna is the daughter of Kerri Mendoza from Dix, and is currently attending school in Potter-Dix as a freshman.
Each girl demonstrated outstanding talents in the above mentioned categories, but agreed that their favorite is horsemanship, where they can work along with one of their best friends, their horse.
Helping emcee the event Saturday morning, was our neighbor, newly selected Trail Days Queen, Kelby Eastman, from Pine Bluffs.
The girls are off and running with their weekends being filled with parades in Potter for Potter Days, and of course our up-coming Farmers Day Parade right here in Kimball. They will be having "pony rides" as well as signing autographed pictures in the park after the parade here in Kimball and then mingling with the crowd at the Demolition Derby for their annual 50/50 cash raffle.
If you have an event you would like to have them assist you with, or are interested in helping sponsor them as they represent you in the surrounding area, please call Cheryl Delaplane at 241-0504. They look forward to meeting you and are anxious to help out any place they can!
