Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Friday night lights, had their first appearance at home this season when our Kimball Longhorns took to their own grid iron this past Friday, Sept. 8, to face-off with the Mitchell Tigers for a 50-14 loss.
The Tigers were on the board first and jumped out to an early lead.
At one point Kimball looked like they could finally climb into the drivers seat and take the reins of this game with the tigers up by two touchdowns with the score 28-14 as the Longhorns were driving for a touchdown, with a couple big penalties and the loss of Kimball's running back the play was incomplete.
"We made some plays on both sides of the ball, we just need to finish drives and finish plays," said Coach Aarestad. Coach added how he really likes how the team is coming together and improving each week, but with that in mind we need to keep their sights on their goal and keep getting better each week of practice and staying healthy. "We need to work on making plays, we have just a couple of guys that want the ball in big moments or think they can make a big play, but we need to get the attitude that everyone thinks they can make a play and that they all believe in themselves."
Kimball will look to matchup with Chase County tomorrow, Friday September 15, in Imperial. "This game will be a very tough game, Chase County is the best team we have faced all year." The Kimball Longhorns will look for their first win of the season on Friday against the Chase County Longhorns who are looking for their second win of the season. The game is set for kick off at 7 p.m. Like a few more games this season, in the month of September, this game with Chase County is a "Touchdowns Against Cancer" game, Kimball, along with high school teams across America, are raising funds to help St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. For each touchdown score in this game there will be a pledged amout to help fight childhood cancer.
