Disturbance call leads to felony arrest

Officer Mike Winget of the Kimball Police Department responded to a disturbance of unknown nature near Fifth and Jefferson streets on Sunday Oct. 1, just before 11 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, Winget was approached by Caleb P. Boman, 27, of Kimball. According to the arrest affidavit, Boman stated that he and his partner were involved in a verbal argument regarding his job. Winget stated in the affidavit that Boman denied any physical assault.

Officer Winget approached the female party, according to the arrest affidavit she had a few drops of blood on her pants, and a red mark above her left eyebrow. Winget asked the victim if Boman had hit her, she shook her head yes. The female victim proceeded to tell Boman to show Winget his hands. Boman did as he was asked and showed the officer his blood-covered hands, according to the affidavit.

Boman turned around and placed his hand behind his back and advised Winget to take him to jail. Boman was then placed in cuffs and transported to Kimball Health Services.

According to the arrest affidavit, while at the hospital Boman stated that the female victim was approximately two months pregnant. This was confirmed by the victim during a follow-up interview later in the evening.

With confirmation of the assault and the victim’s pregnancy, Boman was charged with third Degree Domestic Assault, a Class IV felony.

According to the arrest affidavit no prior Domestic Assault charges have been found on Boman. However, in September 2014, he was charged with criminal attempt of second degree assault, a class IV felony. He served 19 months in the Omaha Correctional Center for those charges, stemming from a bar fight in front of Mad Dogs Sports Bar in Kimball. Boman was released from incarceration for that incident in July 2017.
