Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Following closed session during the Wednesday, Oct. 25 special meeting, the Kimball Board of Education announced that Kimball Superintendent of Schools, Marshall Lewis, mayno longer be employed at Kimball Public Schools, though circumstances surrounding this decision are not currently available, and may not be made public in the future.
The Board entered into closed session at 5:36 for the evaluation of job performance of a person when necessary to prevent needless injury to the reputation of a person and if such person has not requested a public meeting and returned to open session at 8:40 p.m.
Board member Matt Shoup moved and Heather Norberg seconded to give Lewis a notice of possible action on his employment contract. Reader was the sole dissenting vote and the motion carried.
The official statement, which comes from Mary Lynch Elementary principal, Michael Mitchell, and was repeated by Board President Lynn Vogel, is that during that meeting the Kimball Board of Education voted to initiate a process that may lead to changes in the employment status of the Superintendent.
"As this involves an employment matter, we are not able to give you any specifics now and may not be able to give any specifics in the future, with regard to this matter," Mitchell stated in an email.
