Elaine J. Sandridge, 95, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Monday, October 30, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. Hilda's Episcopal Church in Kimball with The Reverend Christine Plantz officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Friday at St. Hilda's Episcopal Church in Kimball. The services for Elaine have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Elaine Joan Sandridge was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on July 17, 1922, the daughter of Gust John and Luella Mae (Miller) Sakelaris. She graduated from Kimball County High School in 1940 and attended the Success Business & Reporting College in Denver, Colorado. Elaine married Robert (Bob) Sandridge in Kimball on July 11, 1943. Shortly after their marriage, they left for San Diego, California where Bob was stationed in the Marine Corp and then was overseas during WWII. During that time Elaine attended the California College of Business Administration in San Diego and worked for Consolidated Aircraft Corporation until her husband returned from overseas. They moved back to Kimball after the War and Elaine worked under Bus Linn for Kimball County from January 1947 through July 1949. Three children were brought into the marriage; Sharon Ann, Robert Richard and Jon Thomas. Elaine was named the Kimball County Clerk on November 1, 1983 and was reelected to the office in 1986 and 1990, retiring in 1995. During her years with Kimball County she was the first coordinator for the Kimball County Handi-bus; member of the National Association of County Recorders, Elected Officials and Clerks; Resolution Chairman; President of the Panhandle Clerks; President and Vice President of the Panhandle District Courts Association and By-Laws Chairman for Western Nebraska. Elaine was also a member of the VFW Auxillary and the American Legion Auxillary. She was a member of the Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming and an associate member of Saint Hilda's Episcopal Church in Kimball, where she was a past Altar Guild member, Bishop's Committee member, Treasurer and Hospitality Chairman. The family would like to thank the Kimball County manor for the care given to our mother, and to all her friends who have been a blessing during the past years.
Survivors include her children Sharon (Keith) Fleenor of Los Lunas, NM., Robert (Cindi) Sandridge of Lakewood, CO., and Jon Sandridge of Evans, CO; grandchildren Stacy (Andy) Malm of La Grange, WY., Luke (Katie) Sandridge of Indian Hills, CO., Matt Sandridge of Lakewood, CO., Scott (Mikala) Sandridge of Windsor, CO., Meghan (Cory) Jackson of Sterling, CO., Amber (Chris) Smith of Silverdale, WA., and Kory (Talitha) Fleenor of Lingle, WY; great grandchildren Katelin, Karissa & Kaden Malm, Sullivan & Mikenzie Sandridge, Gavin Sandridge, Ryker, Piper & Bailey Jackson, Dallen, Noah & Kiera Fleenor and Jackson & Marleigh Smith; sister-in-laws Lydia Sakelaris of Albuquerque, NM and Alta Maxted of Washington, IA; nieces and nephews Eric (Joan) Engstrom, Carla Engstrom, Shelly (Greg) Warnick, Mike Sakelaris, Brenda Hoffman, Jim Maxted, Mike Maxted and Jack Maxted. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Sandridge, parents Gus and Luella Mae Sakelaris, sister Dorothy Engstrom, brothers John Sakelaris and Gus Sakelaris, sister-law Vera Clary, brother-in-law Raymond Engstrom, granddaughter Stacy Raisley, and father-in law and mother-in-law Truman and Effie Mae Sandridge
