Shop with a Cop seeks donations for 2017 season

Kimball's Shop with a Cop crew is preparing for their seventh annual event. The crew includes volunteers from the Kimball School District, Potter-Dix School District, Kimball County Sheriff's Office, Kimball Police Department, Kimball Ambulance crew, Dix First Responders, Bushnell Fire Department, Kimball Fire Department and the Nebraska State Patrol.

These men and women, along with volunteers from the Ladies Auxiliary and members of the community, work hard to share the spirit of the holiday with children and families throughout Kimball county. The program's primary goal is to provide one-on-one attention from local law enforcement and emergency crews while creating a positive and exciting Christmas experience.

Each year they offer the experience to new children and those who have participated in the past can be added to the Kimball Rotary's Giving Tree.

Children chosen to participate are given a $100 gift card to use at ShopKo. They can purchase gifts for friends, family or themselves. They also receive a $50 gift card from Kimball's Main Street Market for their family, meant to assist with the holiday meal preparation.

Donations are being sought and can be taken to the Kimball County Sheriff's Office or Curley's Machine Works in Kimball. In addition to monetary donations, this year Shop with a Cop is seeking boxes of all sizes for wrapping.
