Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Jock Talk

This is pretty much the final weekend of Kimball High sports activities before the Christmas break and it finds the boys and girls basketball teams on the road with a trip to Hershey, Friday evening, for games beginning at 3:30 for the JV teams, followed by the varsity contests. On Saturday, they are off to Bayard for JV games set for 2 p.m., followed by the varsity games.

------------------------------

The Kimball High Wrestlers will be in action at the Bridgeport/Sidney Tournament Saturday, with mat time at 9 a.m. and the Horns will close out prior to Christmas part of the season at the Hershey/Chase County match on Tuesday with wrestling set for 4 p.m.

------------------------------------------

The Kimball girls are going to be without a couple of their key players this week as yet, Kaylyn Nelson, will still be out with concussion problems she suffered a couple weeks back and freshman Samantha Bemis injured a knee in the Morrill JV game that kept her out of the varsity contest, and will most probably keep her out of action this weekend. She was headed to Colorado this past Tuesday for an MRI to determine how serious the injury is. Coach Chauncey Pedersen is getting to the point of “This is enough,” as he also lost standout, Kate Reader, for the season when she went down with a serious knee injury that will require surgery.

You sports fans looking for something to attend this Sunday, can head up to the Kimball High School for the Federation Wrestling Tournament that is set to get underway at 9 a.m. A chance to view the up and coming young grapplers.
