Fayann G. Cain, 87, of Kimball, died at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Cremation will be held following the service. Private family inurnment will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view Fayann's Tribute Wall and leave condolences for the family. Memorials may be given to The Kimball High School Booster Club or Trinity United Methodist Church. The services for Fayann have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Fayann Gladys Armstrong was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on September 20, 1930, the daughter of William and Ina (Ballard) Armstrong. She attended high school in Burns. On August 26, 1951 she was married to H. Wayne Cain at the Golden Prairie Baptist Church in Burns, Wyoming. In 1953 Fayann graduated from Sioux Falls College with a degree in education and began her first teaching career in Kansas City. In1964, Fayann and Wayne moved to Kimball where she taught elementary school until her retirement in 1997. Over her career, Fayann taught several generations of students and residents of Kimball. After retirement, Fayann remained active in Kimball Schools as a volunteer and permanent fixture in the west side of the bleachers at sporting events and recently was inducted into the Booster Club Fan Hall of Fame. Fayann was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church serving as trustee. She will be remembered first and foremost for her independent spirit and caring nature. Fayann loved spending time with her family, friends and being a grandmother. She loved teaching, watching sports and having coffee at the Diner.
Survivors include her sons Dr. David W. (Theresa) Cain of Florida, and Dr. Michael B. (Lisa) Cain of New York; grandchildren Nolan (Kristen), Jessica, Ross and Taylor; great grandchildren Cason and Ryann; numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many close personal friends. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
