John R. Young, 62, of Kimball, with his family by his side, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Cremation has been held and there will be no services at this time. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view John's tribute wall and leave condolences for the family. Memorials may be given in John's memory to his family. The services for John have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
John Randall Young was born in Wichita, Kansas on June 23, 1955, the son of John and Lillian (Collins) Young. He received his education in Wichita and graduated in 1973. He moved to Denver and worked for a cable TV company. He met Shirley Zimmerman and they lived in Estes Park, Colorado and he drove truck for Waste Management Company. They moved to Kimball in 2004 and he worked for Larry Johnson Trucking as an over-the-road trucker, he loved being a truck driver. John had to retire in 2008 due to health problems. On August 1, 2011 he was married to Shirley Zimmerman in Kimball. He enjoyed doing crocheting, working on building car models. He could repair anything and loved working on old cars.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Young of Kimball, NE; step-children Charles Flood of Kimball, NE., Sharon Walker of Thayne, WY., Warren (Wanda) Flood of Ocala, FL., Tammy Flood of Kimball, NE., Kenneth Flood of Ft. Collins, CO., and Paul Flood of Kimball, NE; brother Jerry (Candy) young of Wichita, KS; sister Rita Dephler of Wichita, KS; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
