Dakota Kuhns/Western Nebraska Observer count
County Government Day was started in Nebraska by Chief Justice Robert Simmons in 1942 to teach students about county government. Again this year the Kimball County offices hosted KHS students for County Government Day, on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Larry Engstrom, Chairman of the Kimball County Board of Commissioners began the day welcoming the students, with County Commissioner Tim Nolting opening with a prayer and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Kimball County Veterans Service Officer, Robert Jenner, along with local veteran Don Olson, beautifully demonstrated the Folding of the American Flag while Nolting described the meanings to each fold and local veteran Mary Kay Jenner played Taps. Students once again experienced a fun-filled and educational day with a breakdown of each office and essential duties to insure the County Government is running as it should be.
