Kimball girls third at Kimball Junior High Track Invite

Another strong showing by the Kimball Junior High girls at their own Invitation Track and Field Invite. The Kimball girls scored 66 points and finished 3rd behind a strong Mitchell team that won with 88.5 points, with Burns 2nd with 75.5 points. Close behind Kimball was Bridgeport with 65, Pine Bluffs had 51.5, Bayard 42, Perkins County 34, Alliance St. Agnes 27.5, Hemingford 9 and Morrill 6

Bridgeport ran away with the boy’s division team title with 119 points, followed by Mitchell with 79, St. Agnes 74, Burns 50, Pine Bluffs 48, Bayard 43, Perkins County 25, Hemingford 18, Kimball 8 and Morrill 1.

Chantel Malson scored some points in the sprints for Kimball, taking 2nd in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.70 and was 4th in the 200 in 31.20. Kimball scored well in the hurdles and jumps. Maddie Merryfield ran 2nd in the 200 hurdles clocking 36.40 and tied for 4th with teammate, Kaitlin Heeg, in the 100 meter hurdles with both timed at 19.90. Heeg had a real solid day, as she was 2nd in the long jump at 13’3” and 2nd in the triple jump at 28’7”. Caelyn Long was 3rd in the long jump at 12’5.75” and Amy Birkhofer was 5th at 26’6” in the triple jump. Jayden Paxton was 4th in the high jump at 4’2”.

Kimball’s 4x100 relay team of Tianna Stierwalt, Payton Wise, Amy Birkhofer and Chantel Malson ran 2nd with a time of 58.60. The 4x400 relay team of Charlotte Hargreaves, Kallie Crossman, Jayden Paxton and Emma Patterson ran 6th in 5:21.60. The only points in the throws was a 4th in the shotput by Amy Birkhofer with a heave of 25’10.5”.

Only two places for the Kimball boys as they ended up with 8 points. Azael Flores finished 3rd in the shotput at 37’2” and Thomas Muldoon was 5th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6.17.7.

Kimball’s Junior High team is scheduled to participate in the Burns Invite tomorrow (Friday, April 27) with a 9 a.m. start time and will close out the season at the SPVA Meet in Hershey on May 3rd.
