Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball High Boy's Golf Team picked up yet another win in capturing the Team Championship, and the individual medalist honors, at the Kimball Invitational Tournament held this past Friday at the Four Winds Golf Course. The tournament was postponed one day and resulted in near perfect weather conditions for all of the young golfers.
Kimball had a winning score of 322, with Perkins County runner-up with 339. Behind the top two were Bridgeport with 343, Garden County 374, Mitchell 390, Kimball JV 393, Morrill 397, Hemingford 437, Chase County 445 and Bayard 455.
Kimball had all five of their varsity golfers finish in the top ten medal group with Dillon Wise taking medalist honors with his round of 76. Dillon was 1 under at 34 on the front nine and shot 42 on the back nine. In fact, all five Kimball golfers shot 42 on the back nine! Eric Stevens of Bridgeport took individual runner-up honors with his round of 78. Kimball's Zane Anthony was 3rd at 81, Bridgeport's DeMaster 4th with 82, Kimball's Kole Bush 5th with 82, Josh Johnston of Perkins County 6th with 83, Kimball's Andrew McCloud 7th with 83, Kimball's Izaac Reuter 8th with 83, Tyson Patrick of Perkins County 9th with 84 and Jacob Woodmancy of Perkins County 10th with 86. All ties were determined for medal honors by scorecard playoff.
Scoring for Kimball's JV team saw Brendan Walker shoot an 86 with a 38 on the front nine. Jaren Winstrom shot an even 100, Ethan Greenwood 101, Cole Henton 106 and Weston Walker 135.
The Kimball golf team was to finish out the regular season play at Bayard this past Tuesday in a postponed tournament that was called off earlier because of weather. They will be back in action this Tuesday (May 15) when they host the District Tournament on their home course at the Four Winds. Starting tee times are set for 9 a.m. and the public is invited to turn out to watch the young golfers in action.
