Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Jock Talk

The District competition

for both track and

boy’s golf are completed

and the state competitions

are ready

to take place.

State track in

Omaha is this

weekend, May

18-19, and

state golf for

Class C golfers

will be in Kearney

this coming

Tuesday-

Wednesday,

May 22-23.

Kimball

qualified 3

individuals for

state track with

Brady Kilgore

going in both

the 110 meter hurdles and

the high jump. Hannah

Biesecker in the long

jump and Kaden Adrian

in the 800 meter run. An

interesting note shows a

total of 59 girls will compete

in the Class C girl’s

long jump due to so many

added girls who jumped

the automatic mark of

15’9”. Hannah’s 16’8”

mark at District is among

the top 6 marks from

all District meets. She

will jump at 5:30 p.m.,

Friday evening, at State.

Kilgore will also high

jump around that time

on Friday and also run

his prelims in the hurdles

on Friday afternoon.

Adrian will run the 800

on Saturday. Kaden was

an added state qualifier

by virtue of an additional

fastest time, but actually

ran 5th at District and the

Sutherland District, where

Kimball performed, will

send five 800 runners to

state. Kaden would have

won the event at 5 of the

9 districts. This shows

you how strong the C-9

District is.

Coach Gene Mohr said,

“f we were in another District,

we could be taking 6

or 7 kids to state. When

you are in

a District

with Chase

County and

Mitchell,

plus some

other strong

schools

as well, it

is hard to

qualify.”

Congrats

going out to

Potter-Dix

qualifiers

for the

state meet,

including,

Trinity Langley, who won

both the high jump and

triple jump at District and

Payge Hoffman, winner

of the 100 meter dash and

a 2nd place in the long

jump.

Banner County will

send MaKenna Dahlgrin

to Omaha in both the

shotput and discus, after

she won both events at

District. Also, Deven Sullivan,

who ran 2nd in both

the 1600 and 3200 meter

runs.

A final reminder of the

combine Men’s League

golf scramble this Sunday,

May 20th, at the Four

Winds Golf Course. Tee

time is 1 p.m. and you

need to let the pro shop

know if you are playing,

so they can have the teams

established.

Also, time to get signed

up for the June 2-3

Member-Guest weekend

Tournament at the Four

Winds. A fun format is

planned and you can get

all the info by calling the

Pro Shop at 308-235-

4241.
