Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
For only the second time this season,
the Kimball High Boy’s Golf
Team failed to win a tournament they
were involved in. The Longhorns
ended up 4 strokes back of Bridgeport
at the Bayard Tournament this past
week. The winning Bridgeport Team
shot 319 and Kimball 323 to finish in
the runner-up spot. Behind the top
two were Morrill 364, Garden County
379, Scottsbluff JV 403, Mitchell
404, Hemingford 414, Chase County
425, Bayard 426 and Crawford 433.
A huge day for Bridgeport senior,
Eric Stevens, as he took medalist honors
with his round of 68, 10 strokes
ahead of runner-up Zane Anthony of
Kimball, with his runner-up round of
78. Drake DeMaters of Bridgeport
was 3rd with his round of 78. Kimball
had four golfers in the top ten
medal group with Dillon Wise 4th
with his 80, Izaac Reuter 7th with 85
and Kole Bush 5th with his round of
80. Andrew McCloud finished out of
the medal group with a round of 92.
The Bayard Tournament was the final
tune-up prior to the District Tournament
hosted by Kimball at the Four
Winds this past Tuesday. The District
Tournament is the State Qualifying
Tournament where the top 3 teams
and the top 10 individuals will advance
to the State competition in Kearney
on May 22-23.
