Sandra "Sandy" A. Vavra

Sandra "Sandy" A. Vavra, 64, of Sidney, died at the Kimball County Manor on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Cremation has been held and memorial services will be held at a later date. The services for Sandy have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Sandra Ann Vavra was born in Cortez, Colorado on September 16, 1953, the daughter of Harlan and Gladys (Cloud) Southward. She was raised and received her education in Ouray, Colorado. She met Dale Vavra and moved to Bushnell, they were married in 1970. Sandy worked as the Bushnell Postmaster for 33 years. Her husband Dale preceded her in death in 2001. She moved to Kimball in 2007 and worked for Western Drug and then Bemis Drug. She retired in 2014 due to ill health and moved to Sidney. Sandy enjoyed reading, bowling, and camping. She also enjoyed her trip to Ireland.

Survivors include her daughters Tammy (Jim) Land of Kimball, NE., and Kelli (Brandon) Chaon of Sidney, NE; brothers Bud (Deby) Kay of Montrose, CO., and Pete (Jenny) Southward of Portland, OR; sister Debbie (Tom) Knight of Childress, TX; grandchildren Brady and Ethan Land, Dylan (Cody) Haas, Coby Haas, and Hannah Haas and Addilyn Chaon; sisters-in-law Sue (Jay) Ziegler of Ft. Collins, CO., and Sharon Vavra of Ft. Collins, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale , brother Tom Kay and sister Judy Riley.
