Plains Historical Society seeks volunteers

The High Plains Historical Society seeks volunteers for the next few weeks, and some to continue after, as they plan to open the downtown museum for two to three afternoons a week beginning this August.

Additionally, volunteers are needed for cleaning projects in the Fashion Room at the old Kimball County High School on Hwy 30.

Volunteer projects include painting, washing windows, cleaning carpets, as well as future projects, and two people a day are needed to keep the doors open for museum guests to enjoy Kimball’s history through Farmers’ Day weekend.

Hopes that the two museums can keep the doors open more regularly are high, but probably not in the near future. However, Society members believe that getting volunteers involved is a great start. Museum tours are something many patrons miss dearly and want to see brought back to life.

“We are hoping we can keep these open throughout Farmers’ Day weekend, so that community members and visitors can enjoy what the museum has to offer,” said Karen Bivens, Historical Society Board member.
