Complaint leads to arrest of complainant

Recently out on bond, William Shane Serrano, 32, of Kimball was arrested again for bond violation and other offenses,what appears to be his third arrest in just one month.

Officer Henderson Bryson responded to a door bell ring, at the Kimball County Courthouse, at approximately 7:02 P.M. on or about Saturday, July 7, according to the arrest affidavit from the Kimball Police Department.

Serrano of Kimball asked to speak with an officer pertaining to an assault on him by his wife, Sheena Erickson. According to the affidavit, when asked what happened, Serrano explained Erickson went to the home of Krysten Barrett, asked why he was there and, according to Serrano’s statement, struck him three times in the face.

The arrest affidavit stated that Bryson smelled what he thought to be alcohol on Serrano and asked Serrano if he had been drinking. Serrano replied that he had been, and when asked if he was out on bond, again answered yes.

Bryson instructed Serrano to stay at the courthouse while he investigated the accusations.

According to the affidavit, at approximately 7:10 P.M. Bryson arrived at Kimball Health Services, where he spoke with Erickson.

Erickson told Bryson she did strike Serrano in efforts to get him off of her as he was choking and head butting her.

While speaking with Erickson, according to the police document, Bryson noticed Serrano had driven to the hospital and parked on the south side in his own vehicle. Bryson requested assistance from Kimball County Sheriff Deputy, Jason Hottell.

At approximately 9:20 P.M. Hottell arrived on scene, Bryson informed Serrano he was being detained for drinking and driving and drinking alcohol while on bond.

According to the affidavit Serrano told Bryson and Hottell they were not putting handcuffs on him and he was not going to jail. As Hottell attempted to handcuff him, Serrano turned away and started to leave, at which time, Bryson approached Serrano from the rear to prevent him from leaving.

After getting one cuff on him, Serrano turned away from Hottell in a violent manner while pulling his arm in efforts to get away. According to the affidavit, Bryson then pulled out his taser and instructed Serrano to turn around and put his hands behind his back.

Serrano responded with several statements about kicking both Bryson and Hottell’s butts and getting away, according to the affidavit, and also made threats to kill both law enforcement officers.

According to the affidavit Serrano said, “If I go to jail then I’m going to take you out, I’m going to kick your ass.” Serrano continued threatening Bryson and Hottell while being transported to the Kimball County Jail.

Upon arrival at the jail, at approximately 7:30 p.m., according to the affidavit, Bryson requested assistance from Kimball Chief of Police, Andy Bremer.

Bremer opened the door to the vehicle and, the document states that Serrano immediately exited the vehicle in a threatening manner, yelling obscenities and threats against Bryson, Hottell and Bremer.

Bremer attempted to escort Serrano to the door of the courthouse when Serrano turned towards Bremer and said, “I’m gonna go rounds with all of you.”

With the threat, Bryson deployed the first taser, one barb hit Serrano in the shoulder the other one missed. Bryson then deployed the second taser, one hitting Serrano in the shoulder and one in the ribs.

According to the arrest affidavit, Serrano was tased for five seconds before Bremer helped him to his feet and escorted him into the jail.

Serrano was booked into the Kimball County Jail on charges of domestic assault, bond violation, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace and driving under the influence.

He was scheduled for a probation/bond violation hearing on Tuesday, August 7, at 1 P.M., but no information was available regarding that hearing at the time of press.
