Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Fall Sports Seasons is into full bloom with lots of scheduled events for you Kimball fans. The Longhorn football team had a week off after their opening overtime loss at Garden County but they are back in action this Friday night hosting Southwest with an early kickoff time of 6 p.m. If you readers are like me, you are wondering who and where is Southwest. I went to a man I knew would be able to clue me in and enable me to share this info with you readers. Mr. Hanks, Kimball High Principal, informed me that Southwest was Republican Valley and Indianola, along with some other small schools, and is located sown by McCook. No wonder they want that early kickoff time. The Kimball Booster Club will be feeding all you hungry fans so skip dinner at home and eat at the Stadium. There is also cross country at Kimball on Friday with the Kimball Invitational taking place at the Four Winds Golf Course area starting at 1p.m.

Next Monday, September 10, the Kimball Junior High volleyball teams open the season at Sidney with a 4 p.m. start time.On Tuesday September 11, girls golf at Gering, junior high football home with Bridgeport starting time at 4 p.m., junior high volleyball at Leyton at 5 p.m., and JV football at Morrill at 5 p.m. This should be enough to keep you fans busy!

Something new I have enjoyed this year, sport video’s on Facebook. I just happened to stumble on to these video’s by chance and enjoyed Caleb Reuter doing the vocal work on the Kimball-Garden County football game. Great job Caleb! Then I caught some volleyball action the other night as well and this really is enjoyable when it doesn’t work to get to the out of town contests.

Sending out congrats to Kimball’s Zachery Wagner for his 7th place finish at the Gering Cross Country race this past week. The Talented senior who missed last year after a pre-season injury, ran a good time of 19:22. Kimball freshman Chantel Malson ran 9th in the girl’s division with her time of 24:14. Remember you can see them in action on their home course tomorrow (Friday) starting at 1 p.m. at the Four Winds Golf Course.
