Kimball golfers slash personal records

The Kimball High Girl's Golf team finished third at the Mitchell Tournament this past week and shot their low team score of the season as they continue to show improvement. Bridgeport won the team title with their score of 382 followed by Chadron with 392 and Kimball with 394, edging out Mitchell with 395.

Mitchell's Kenzey Kanno shot the low individual round of 71 on her home course with Kimball's Payton Wise finishing runner-up in second place with her round of 41-43=84. Carli Wurdeman shot her best round of the season to finish in 8th place in the top ten medal group giving Kimball two medal winners on the day. Wurdeman shot 52-45=97 and continues to show personal improvement. Other Kimball scores were Sam Bemis with 53-51=104, also a personal best, Sheridan Magninie 57-52=109, and Maddie Cook 64-58=122.

Kimball Coach Luke Maas said "It was a cool and windy day at Mitchell. The course was in good shape and the greens rolled true. Some of the girls had issues adjusting to the windiest day we've had so far, but again we are improving every week and that goes right along with our team goal of playing our best golf come District Tournament time."

Coach Maas went on to say "I am impressed on how we played as a team. Our girls are realizing that their hard work in practice is paying off and their mental part of their game is especially showing improvement. It is refreshing to see that what we work on in practice is helping our scores in tournament play. We have opportunities ahead of us to reach some of our goals. I am very happy with how we are progressing as a team."

The Lady Horns were to play at Gering this past Tuesday, and this coming Tuesday, (September 18) they will play in the Ogallala Tournament.
