Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Results are in for the 2018 Farmer's Day Fun Run.
Those running the five mile were few, and led by Bryant Knigge with a time of 33:16. Many readers will remember Bryant from his days at Kimball Public Schools and later at Potter-Dix. He ran in the 20-29 age category. Great job Bryant!
Following Bryant was Colby Lukassen in the 30-39 age category. Colby, an avid runner, came in with a time of 43:15 and is a past winner of the Fun Run from Bushnell.
Third place went to Steve Knigge, Bryant's dad, in the 60 and over age category with a time of 43:45.
Charles Ferguson, another Kimball alum, took fourth place with a time of 43:46. Charles, who now resides in Hastings, ran in the 20-29 age category.
Buffy Dye of Dalton took fifth place with a time of 44:33. She ran in the 50-59 age category. She was followed by Jim Sladky, also in the 50-59 age category with a time of 47:37.
In seventh was Stan Fox, Sidney, with a time of 50:25 in the 60 and over category.
Mallory Buescher, in the 13-19 age category, took eighth with her time of 51:31. Mallory is the daughter of Lisa and Darrin Buescher, both formerly of Kimball who now live in Lexington.
89 runners participated in the two mile run/walk.
Leading the runners are brothers from Sidney, Dante Peterson in first with his time of 12:53 followed by Deekun Cerenil with his time of 13:46. Both boys ran in the 13-19 age category.
Kimball's Kaden Adrian took third, also in the 13-19 age group, with his time of 14 minutes and Patrick Mars, also of Kimball and also aged 13-19, followed just 12 seconds behind.
In fifth was Woodrow Parsons of Bushnell. Woodrow ran in the 20-29 age group and finished his two-mile race in 15:26.
Young Braylon Miller, a Kimball Junior High cross country runner, finished in 15:27, earning him sixth place and his dad, Chad, followed with a time of 15:36. Braylon ran in the 10-12 age group and Chad in the 40-49.
Finishing in eighth place was Heather Gawith, of Kimball, with a time of 16:05 in the 40-49 age category followed by Isaac Rohde in 17:04. Isaac ran the race in the 8-9 age group and was followed by top ten finisher Trey Cook, also in the 8-9 age group with a time of 17:06.
Runners came from near – Sidney, Gering and Harrisburg and from far – Grant, Lexington, Hastings, Lincoln and Omaha, but they also came from Sterling, Fort Morgan and Denver, Colo. as well as Pine Bluffs and Cheyenne, Wyo. One thing is sure, these runners had a great race this last weekend in Kimball. Way to go!
