Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Kimball Police Department along with banks in the community urge residents to beware of new and old multi-billion dollar scams as well as counterfeit bills that may have made their way back into town.
KPD Chief Andy Bremer urges residents to be cautious of emails, checks, phone calls, and text messages that may seem strange.
“There are so many scams right now it seems like this time of the year you see more of it,” said Bremer. “Some of these scams have been around forever, like the Mystery Shopper check scam, that are still being used.”
One counterfeit bill was found recently in Kimball, banks want to remind businesses as well as customers to be aware of the bill, and to check it if you have any concerns.
Drew Enevoldsen of Kimball State Bank reminds all his employees that “Presidents all wear corduroy jackets,” according to Enevoldsen the one thing that counterfeiters have yet to be able to reproduce correctly on the bill is the raised ink on the all the present’s jackets.
“If you run your finger nail over the collar of the present’s jacket you can feel the raised ink,” he said.
