Floyd W. Barrett

Floyd W. Barrett, 76, of Kimball, died at his home in Kimball on Thursday, November 29, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball with Pastor Caryl Miller officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view Floyd's Tribute Wall and leave stories and condolences for the family. Memorials may be given in memory of Floyd to either Camp Laramie Peak, First English Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.. The services for Floyd have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Floyd Warren Barrett was born in Kimball on July 27, 1942, the son of Lyle and Doris (Churchill) Barrett. He received his early education in a Banner County country school. He attended high school in Harrisburg and graduated in 1960. Floyd then enrolled in Milford Tech. School and received a degree in diesel mechanics.

He was married to Pat Halstead in Kimball on August 20, 1961. They lived in Lincoln while he was finishing school. They moved back to Kimball County and he worked for PA Pedersen on the farm. He then worked for Dan Kinnison at Kinnison Equipment until 1981 when he went to work for Eatmon Well Service.

In 1992 he went to work for Mitchcon Corporation as a diesel mechanic, he retired in 1999 and became full time Camp Ranger of Laramie Peak Scout Camp and Ben Delatour Scout Ranch. Floyd loved working with the Scouts and touched many lives along the way. He loved woodworking and spending time fixing various things around the house. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife Pat Barrett of Kimball, NE; son Brent (Julie) Barrett of Pueblo, CO; daughter Brenda (Paul) Richter of Missoula, MT; grandchildren Katelyn and Abbie Barrett. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Barrett and sister Gloria Woods.
