Jordan Cluff Third At Garden County Wrestling Invitational

The Kimball High Wrestling Team participated in the Garden County Invitational Tournament this past Saturday and had only one place winner on the day.

"Overall, this meet was not one of our best performances" said coach Wade Brashear. "We ended up with only one pace winner in Jordan Cluff at 113 pounds.

"There were other positives. Ethan Culek-Schaeffer won two matches and came into this tournament winless.Toby McManigal wrestled very well losing in the heartbreak round, but overall he had a solid tournament despite losing some close matches."

Jordan Cluff wrestled four matches en route to his third place finish at 113 pounds and was 3-1 on the day. He won two matches by fall and one by decision, and lost his only match by a 9-5 decision to Murillo of Morrill.

Connor Cluff at 120 lost his two matches by decision.

Christopher Barker at 132 also lost twice by fall.

Ethan Culek-Schaeffer at 160 was 2-2 for the tournament with a pin and decision for wins, and two matches lost by pin.

Izaak Rohde at 195 had one win by decision and lost twice.

Toby McManigal at 220 also ended up with one win and two losses.

Stephen Bateman at 285 lost his 2 matches, both by fall.

"As a team, we need to develop a go-to offense, and we need to be able to deliver in tight, close matches, especially in the later rounds," the coach said.

Kimball will be back in action this Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Chase County Invitational.
