Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
This year's District 1 Wrestling Tournament wrapped up this past weekend in Scottsbluff with the three local teams looking towards the State Tournament.
Kimball Wrestling Club placed fifth with 150 team points out of over 30 teams, just behind Sidney Wrestling Club's 186 team points.
The Banner County MatCats were 15th with 45.5 points and the Tri-State Grapplers were 17th with 44 points.
Chance Johnson of Kimball placed fifth in the PreK-K 44-48 division and scored eight points.
In the 1st-2nd 53 division, Britton Culek placed first and scored 26 team points. Christian Soto-Young was just behind Culek in third place scoring 17 team points and Trajan Johnson was behind Soto-Young in fifth place scoring nine team points.
1st-2nd 65 division, Kasyn Snyder placed firth and scored 11 team points.
3rd-4th 55 division, Logan Paxton placed fourth and scored four team points.
3rd-4th 70 division, Trey Cook placed fifth and scored 15 team points.
3rd-4th 75 division, Camron McGinnis placed fourth and added 18 team points.
3rd-4th 105 division, Wyatt Cook placed first and scored two team points.
3rd-4th 112 division, Hunter Lonsdale finished first and scored two team points.
7th-8th 75 division, Matthew Johnson placed first and scored two team points.
7th-8th James McGinnis placed third and scored 15 team points.
7th-8th 140 division, Trey Schindler placed first and scored 18 team points.
Stockto Soule placed fourth for the Banner County MatCats in the PreK-K 57-61 division, and scored three points.
In the 1st-2nd 45 division, Quincy Boettcher placed fourth and scored 15 team points.
1st-2nd 56 division, George Teeple placed sixth and scored nine team points.
3rd-4th 60 division, Austin West placed sixth and scored nine and a half team points.
3rd-4th 65 division, Wilbur Reichenberg scored three team points.
5th-6th 70 division, Gabriel Teeple placed third and scored six team points.
7th-8th 125 division, Wyatt Reichanberg placed fifth.
Two Tri-State Grapplers attended the District Tournamen.
In the 1st-2nd 45 division, Jesse Gortney placed second and scored 23 team points.
In the 1st-2nd 59 division, Jax Thurin placed third and scored 21 team points.
To qualify for State, wrestlers had to finish in the top four at districts in the age divisions above PreK-K.
The littles who attended districts and wrestled in the PreK-K division are eligible to make the trip to wrestle this next weekend.
With this weekend off for Kimball Wrestling Club, practice will continue to gear up for state next weekend March 15-17 in Grand Island.
