Awaited Underpass Project To Start April 1

Kimball’s long-awaited underpass project is set to begin next Monday, April 1.

“We will stay in close contact with everyone in our community regarding lane closures and restrictions,” Mayor Keith Prunty said. “We are coming down the pipeline and have hopes this project will be completed by Farmers Day this year.”

Weekly updates on the underpass project will be in the upcoming editions of the Observer.

Another city project in the works is the Longhorn building. As many residents noticed last week, city crews began sealing up the building by boarding up windows.

According to Prunty, this first initial step will soon lead into the asbestos abatement that will be put out for bid. Once completed, the city will look closer to a plan for what to become of the building, that could possibly tear down, renovation and other ideas.

In addition to the two upcoming projects, Prunty wanted to extend his thanks to the road crews for their ability to get the snow moved and streets passable by nearly noon on Friday.

“It was a lot of snow to take care of, I thought they did phenomenal and everyone worked well together.”
