Family Looks Up After Devastating Fire
The afternoon of February 7, 2019 will replay in Sandy and Randy Harmon’s mind forever. That is the day they lost everything in a house fire, but today they are thankful and feeling blessed. Sandy’s philosophy is: “First of all, material things don’t matter as long as your loved ones are safe and you are together.”
They are settled in their new “home” although it is not the home they knew, they are making it into their home. Sandy heaped praise on the community for their support and contributions. She said, “We have a great and fantastic support system here in our little town and community, my sister-in-law was amazed at how the community came together for us.”
Just a few things were salvageable after the fire, a couple items out of the kitchen including some of her mother’s eagles. The Harmons say they miss the little things that everyone takes for granted. “We lost precious items that can never be replaced but we lost nothing more than material items. We have our memories.” She continue, “We just have to take it one day at a time and remember the things that matter the most.” The most difficult part of the whole ordeal has been having to start over, especially at their age.
Finally, Sandy put everything into perspective when she said, “Try to remember that no matter how bad things are - they will get better and there are always people worse off than you are.”
