Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Jock Talk
An exciting week for Kimball High spring sports as they took part in their districts and state qualifying events. Kimball senior Brady Kilgore won three events at Bayard to qualify him in his last trip to state track. He will compete in both hurdles events along with the high jump at Omaha this weekend and senior Corey Travis qualified in the discus. We wish you both well. Also Deven Sullivan who will be at Omaha to compete in the Class D 3200 meter run after winning the event at district. He also ran 3rd in the 1600 at the district meet.

The Kimball High Boy’s Golf Team is headed to the state tournament in Kearney on Tuesday—Wednesday (May 21-22) after winning their districts play for the fourth consecutive year. What an accomplishment for the three seniors on the varsity team including Zane Anthony, Izaac Reuter and Dillon Wise. All three were also top ten medal winners at the district tournament. You think we might miss this trio? I think we certainly will. Same goes for tracksters Brady Kilgore and Corey Travis.

Kimball High head track coach, Gene Mohr, took a pair of Kimball Junior High pole vaulter to the state junior high track meet in Gothenburg this past weekend and they both did well. Chris McCloskey placed 6th with his vault of 10’6” and Caleb Schaeffer had a good vault of 9’0”. Future looks bright for these two young men as they move into the high school competition. This will happened next year as they are both 8th graders.

A correction to make on a golf happening I reported on in last week’s paper. Thanks to Greg Robinson for pointing it out to me. For whatever reason, I reported the upcoming Team Mates Golf Tournament at the Four Winds would be held on June 6, when in fact it is set for June 29th. Make that change on your golf calendars please.
