Gertrud was born in Bad Nauheim, Germany on January 7, 1955, to Paul and Marie Decher. She was raised in Rockenberg, Germany where she received her education. Following graduation, she held various jobs, her favorite being the local shoe store. She met Terry Bemis while he was stationed in Germany and they were married in Rockenberg on January 24, 1975. After a couple years in Germany, they were transferred back to the US and were briefly in Fort Knox, Kentucky before moving to the Kimball area. On March 13, 1975 she received one of her proudest achievements, her United States Citizenship. Terry and Gertrud owned and operated Silvertip Hot Oil Service for 24 years. She enjoyed time gardening and canning, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She prided herself on being thrifty and never gave up her tenaciously persistent German roots.
Survivors include her daughters Sabine (Tracy) Kasten of Dix, NE. and Stacy (Justin) Stiers of Cottonwood Heights, UT; brothers Toni (Christa) Decher of Rockenberg, Germany and Reinhold Decher of Nuremberg, Germany; grandchildren Brayden and Cooper Kasten, Trevor and Ethan Stiers. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Martin Decher.
