Anderson-Faden Back At It As Commissioner

Daria Anderson-Faden has returned to the Kimball County Board of Commissioners.

She was sworn into office May 21. She filled the vacancy that opened with the resignation of former Commissioner Timothy Nolting.

"I am excited to have the chance to be involved with our local government again, and to be able to help people with their needs," she said. "It is different this time with all of the new boards I am serving on."

It was Nolting who served on the boards that Anderson-Faden inherited. These boards include the Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska (CAPWN), the Panhandle Development Disabilities Service, the Office of Human Development and Nebraska Jail Standards.

Anderson-Faden, who left office in December following a general election loss to Brandon Mossberg, previously won a commission seat in a general election and served from 2014 to 2018.

This time around, she beat out eight other candidates who were interviewed May 10 to fill the vacancy. That process was done in open meetings as dictated by state statute.

The panel that conducted the interviews included County Clerk Cathy Sibal, County Attorney David Wilson and County Treasurer Cindy Rahmig. It was up to them to appoint the new commissioner, and they turned to Anderson-Faden.

Anderson-Faden will finish the final year and a half of Nolting's term, sitting with commissioners Larry Engstrom and Mossberg.

The former educator, who was a teacher in the Potter-Dix school system, was hired as a staff writer at The Observer this year between her commissioner stints. She has decided to stay on at The Observer.
