The Four Winds Golf Course will come alive this weekend with the holding of the annual Father’s Day Golf Tournament hosted by the Thursday Night Men’s Golf League. This is one of the favorite events each year held at the Four Winds with lots of family get togethers to make up the 3-person scramble teams, along with many friends returning to Kimball to participate.
Tournament play will tee off at 12 noon on Saturday and continues on Sunday with a 9 a.m. Start time. Randy Bohac is the Tournament Director and is hoping the weather holds good for both days of play. He urges everyone to get signed up as soon as you can.
The cost for the two-day event is $100 per player which gets you two days of golf on one of the finest golf courses in Nebraska, a chance at flag prizes both days, a skins game both days, per flight, and an evening meal at the Wind Break Restaurant at conclusion of Saturday’s play. Golfers can also buy in for optional day money that will be paid out per flight both days. Sunday play will be flighted from Saturday’s scores.
Another popular tournament coming up at the Four Winds is the Team Mates 4-person scramble set for June 29. Golfers will get lunch at 11:30 with a shotgun start at 1p.m. Lots of nice prizes and you help a great cause. Get more details by calling the Four Winds Pro Shop.
The Panhandle Junior Golf Tournament was held at the Four Winds this past week and of local interest, Tristen Zitek of Pine Bluffs won the senior boy’s division with his round of 37-40=77 ending out Kimball’s Dillon Wise who was second with a round of 39-39=78. Cole Henton shot 97. Payton Wise in the senior girl’s division had a round of 43-46=89.
In the recent Panhandle Senior Women’s Tournament held at the Riverview Golf Course in Scottsbluff, Kimball’s Patty Yanaga was on the winning team that finished first. Sally Plover was a member of the team that finished fifth.
I want to put in a plus for some great fans who have been simply outstanding in their support of their own kids and the Kimball teams they play on. The families of Lynn and Teresa Anthony, Mike and Kinnie Reuter don’t miss anything their kids are involved in. In fact, Lynn and Mike have organized and coached their kids in youth basketball and football helping them get a good start. Maybe that is why they both had young men involved in the All Star Games this past couple weeks. At every golf tournament, every football game, every basketball game, you would see the Reuter and Anthony families there to cheer and support. How about a vote for these families for the Hall of Fame Fans?
Another family that is all about support is the Brad and Danielle Reader family. They have cheered and supported four kids through their high school careers at Kimball High, and all four had outstanding careers. This past couple weeks daughter Kate was involved in two All Star Basketball contests. Danielle has in fact, coached the girls and Brand, who played college football, was instrumental in his son Jake becoming a college football player also. You could always see then in the stands at the Kimball events, although sometimes Danielle was at the score table helping in this way. These three families have been so special, but dang it, they ran out of kids!
