Robinson Team Wins At Father's Day Golf

The father-son team of Greg Robinson, Tony and Michael took top honors at this year’s Father’s Day Golf Tournament hosted by the Kimball Thursday Night Men’s Golf League, shooting two day rounds of 59-58=117 to hold off the defending champion father-son team of Kenny Greenwood and sons Jeff and Jordan who also shot 59 on the first day but slipped to a 61 on day two for a 120 total. Third place in the championship flight was also a father-son team of Mark Daum, Colton and Jake shooting 62-60=122.

It was a “Great Weekend” said chairman Randy Bohac. “We had two days of great weather with golfers coming form California, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming and from all over Nebraska.

Randy also commented during the awards presentation how favorable he felt it was to see all the family teams especially the father-son teams on Father’s Day weekend. Four Winds Pro Chad Wise also thanked all the golfers for playing before they began play and asked them to think of their fathers.

Chairman Bohac also gave thanks to all the golfers who played and gave special thanks to Greg Robinson and Kelly Garrett for all their help. He also said “I want to give a big thanks to Chad and his crew at the pro shop and to Jeremy Williams and his staff for the fantastic shape the golf course was in, and also to the staff at the Wind Break Restaurant for their great service in feeding us at the Saturday evening meal. I feel this year’s tournament was a HUGE . . . HUGE . . . SUCCESS” he said.

This year attracted a total of 31 three person scramble teams meaning 93 golfers joined in the fun. There were very young team members, both male and female golfers, and some older golf members too. Saturday’s play began at 12 noon with a shotgun start and golf teams had the option of selecting the other team they wanted to play against. Sunday’s play was flighted from Saturday’s play and had a 9 a.m. shotgun start. As Chairman Bohac said, the weather both days was very good.

There were 4 flights this year and payoff to the top 3 teams in each flight, plus flag prizes and skins both days.

Winning the 1st flight was the team of Tom and Ryan Birner and Bo Wamsley shooting 65-63-128. Second place was the team of Chad-Dillion-Payton Wise with a score of 65-66=131 and 3rd place went to Mike-Tyler-Jack Stafford with their score of 66-66=132.

Winning the 2nd flight was the family team of Tom and Doug Southard and Steven Burback with a score of 69-62=131. Second place was the team of Pat Cordell, Keith Staehr, Shane Hays shooting 69-64=133, and 3rd place was the team of Corbett and Collin Hahn and Travis Diamond with their rounds of 72-66=138 to win over the Reuter team of Mike-Caleb-Izaac who shot 69-69=138 calling for a score card playoff decision.

The 3rd flight winning team was Steve Wistrom, Lloyd Howard, Chuck Christensen shooting 75-67=140. Second place was the team of Bert-Steve-Ferris Linn with scores of 74-70=144, and 3rd place was the team of Dean-Justus-Jace Golding with 75-71=146.
