Random Drug Testing Returns For Grades 7-12

School Year Opens Aug. 21 In Kimball

Heather Norberg, president of the Kimball School Board, called the regular school board meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at the City Council Chambers. All the members were present for the brief meeting.

Regular business was conducted, such as approval of past minutes and the treasurer’s report.

The most discussion centered around future Nebraska Association of School Board meetings, which all members are highly encouraged to attend in order to obtain points for a Presidential Award.

The NASB Area Membership Meeting is Aug. 26 in Gering. Other meetings include the NASB Labor Relations Conference in Lincoln in September and the State Education Conference in November at Omaha.

Both principals submitted a hard copy of upcoming and important events, including orientation for Seventh Graders on Monday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. and a welcome party for the four exchange students at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 at the Soper residence.

Also, it was noted that Random Drug Testing will continue for grades 7-12. RDT will test four random students twice monthly, according to the principal’s report.

The Elementary Principal’s Report mentioned that the parents will be able to register their students for ELITE the night of the open house.

It’s official. Mary Lynch Road is now a one way street going north. This was passed by the City Council and is expected to be advantageous to the flow of traffic around Mary Lynch Elementary School.

The first day of school will be Aug. 21 from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., according to the Mary Lynch Principal’s Report. Opening day will be centered around a circus/carnival theme.
