Kimball Invite Quite The Event With 223 Runners

If you didn’t get out to the Kimball Invitational Cross Country meet Friday afternoon, you certainly missed out on quite a sight!

With 223 runners coming to compete, plus all of the coaches, bus drivers, friends and family members, there were a lot of people at the Four Winds Golf Course. It was a beautiful calm day, and perhaps a bit warm for the runners as they put out a lot of effort to run those hills and cover 5,000 meters.

All of the colorful uniforms, and with coaches, teammates, and family members all over the course to cheer the runners on, it is truly a sight to see. A lot of these teams came a long ways to compete like Saratoga and Wheatland and Cheynne.

I want to also give a lot of credit to Kimball Activities Director Ken Smith and all of his staff for organizing and running the show in fine fashion. Thanks to Sandy Faden and coach Tiffany Johnson for providing me with all of the final result sheets.

There was another happening at the Four Winds this past weekend with 7 teams of 4 golfers each participating in a Fund Raising Scramble on Saturday afternoon.

The team of Ty Garrett, Gene Golding, Mitch Brown, Brian Williams won 1st place with their round of 57. The runner-up team shooting 61 was Tom O’Brien, Andrew Brown, Mike Kelley and Aaron Osborn.

Also of special note was Bert Linn winning the long drive flag prize. At 86 years young, this is quite a feat, even though he does get to play from the forward tees.

Dillon Wise playing his college golf for McCook Community College after a very good career at Kimball High, played on his home course at McCook this past week and finished 11th with his rounds of 84-80=164. Dillon and McCook will be in action at Sterling today and Friday.

Here’s another reminder of the One Person Scramble event to be held on September 28-29, you pick your day, at the Four Winds. You can also pick your tee time and who you play with, but you can get the rules and more info at the Pro Shop or on the Four Winds Facebook page.
