Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball High Cross Country Team ran many of their season best times at Saturday's Alliance Invitational Cross Country meet, which was quite pleasing to coach Tiffany Johnson.
"All of our High School girls ran their fastest times of the year to date. Connor Cluff had his personal best time and ran his best race in his career. Lane Wasielewski cut 1.5 minutes off his previous best time. All but 2 of our junior high runners ran their season best times,'' coach Johnson said.
Another highlight of the meet was the performance of sophomore Chantel Malson, and coach Johnson said, "Congrats to Chantel as she also ran her best time ever and her time of 22:11 moved -her into 3rd place on our sophomore school record times."
Malson finished 12th in the final standings and as reported put her in a top 15 medal finish.
Kimball's girls tallied 171 points for their team score led by Malson in 12th with her time of 22:11.92. Raven Johnson ran 55th in 27:04.99, Brandi Councilman 60th in 29:52.57, and Alycia Vrbas 63rd in 32:56.71.
The Kimball boys scored 1 point better than the girls with 170 team points. Connor Cluff was Kimball's top runner finishing 39th with his time of 20:45.48. Matthew Johnson ran 4th in 21:34.98, Cole Henton 54th in 22:24.04, Rene Raymundo 59th in 22:51.45, Xavier Thomas Lewis 68th in 25:00.66, and Lane Wasielewski 71st in 26:50.28. While the High School runners cover a course of 5,000 meters, the junior high runners run a 3,000-meter race.
Kimball had 9 boy runners at Alliance, and they finished 6th out of the 9 teams with l05 points. Kimball's runners by place and time were Cody Brinkman-28th 13:02.11, Fernando Raymundo-32nd 13:15.38, Joseph Bremer-36th 13: 21. 05, Braylon Miller-4lst 13: 34.08, Trenton Hottell-50th 14:00, Aaron Gillming-82nd 17:52.8, Draco Miller-84th 19:00.97, and Landon Norberg-85th 19:01.51.
Kimball had 3 junior high girl runners including Shannon Marks-54th 16:17.59, Karleigh Leslie-78th 21:27.3, and Kylie Osborn-79th 21:32.83.
Kimball will be back in action today (Thursday) competing at the Ogallala Invitational with a 4 p.m. start time.
