Karl Dean Szobody of Bushnell, Nebraska, formerly of Elkhart, Indiana, died at his home on October 25, 2019. He was born February 19, 1942, to the late Henry and Mary (Compton) Szobody.
Karl was preceded in death by his daughter ,Jodi Ann. Survivors include his brother Johan and sister Diane, his wife Norma, sons Dean and Briant, daughter Michelle, and eight grandchildren.
Karl retired from Jefferson County in Colorado after 25 years of service. He was a firefighter in many small communities in the states of Indiana and Colorado. Recently he was voted to be the Chairman of the Bushnell Village Board and was proud to have the neighbors call him "Mayor."
He was a life time member of the BMW Motor Cycles of America Club and enjoyed riding across America. He enjoyed visits to his daughter Michelle's house in Arizona, junking for old clocks and watches and driving his son Briant's 1954 GMC Truck after it was restored.
He also had pride in the architecture and landscaping he maintained at his home in Bushnell.
He was loved by many and will be missed by those who knew him well.
A memorial service was held in Bushnell on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
