Kim-Bowl's Greg McDaniel Honored For Nation's Top Average
Kimball's Greg McDaniel has been notified that he is being awarded a special award recognizing him as having the highest average rolled by an adult male in the nation for the 2018-19 season.
Greg rolled an average of 253 over 145 games in the Kim Bowl Scratch Trio League.
This past Sunday evening, the Kimball Mile High Bowling Association Board of Directors staged a surprise presentation to Greg prior to the start of the Sunday night bowling league complete with a special cake made in his honor with his 253 nation leading average imprinted on the cake.
Greg also received a copy of the letter from the United States Bowling Congress informing him that within the next few weeks he would be receiving the USBC National High Average Award symbolizing his outstanding accomplishment.
The letter stated, "We hope you will display this award with pride and know that it is considered by many as the ultimate in bowling achievements."
Mile High board president Kelly Garrett and Dorothy Griffith, manager of the local board, made the presentation with other board members in attendance as well.
Greg came to Kimball in August 2015, when he purchased the Kim Bowl and has given the area bowlers one of the finest and most cared for bowling alleys you could hope to find. Greg works hard at his own game and he also bowls on the PBA 50 Senior Tour.
In his acceptance talk, Greg thanked the board and all of the other bowlers who were on hand to witness the presentation and showed some emotion in doing so.
Garrett said, "I don't think you can find anyone who takes more pride in keeping the alleys at their very best than what Greg does for all of us bowlers right here in Kimball."
