Winter Sports Winding Down

The winter sports season is fast winding down!

The Kimball wrestlers go to the District D-4 Tournament this Friday-Saturday at North Platte St Pats hoping to qualify some of our wrestlers for the State Tournament in Omaha that starts February 20.

The Kimball High girls close out the regular season this Friday hosting Hemingford and move into subdistrict play at Ogallala Tuesday (February 18). Sorry I can’t give you any pairings as they were not available yet at the time of this writing.

There is still junior high boys basketball going on and Kimball will host Sidney this afternoon (Thursday) at 3 p.m. On Tuesday (Feb. 18) they are at home again hosting Pine Bluffs with a 3:30 p.m. start time.

The Kimball Junior High boys basketball teams are having a good start to their season under the direction of Coaches Dane Wurdeman and Ben Ferguson.

The 7th grade boys won over Burns 38-17 with Kyler Lusche scoring 17 points, Shay Heim 13, Connor Deboodt 4, Aaspyn Tyan 2 and Makhi Bryson 2. They also won over Morrill 20-6 with Heim scoring 7, Bransyn Kiefer 4, Lusche 4, and Tig Woolington 2. Joseph Bremer had 1.

The 7th grade team suffered a loss at Mitchell 38-27. Lusche had 14, Heim 4, Kiefer 4, and Deboodt 3.

The 8th grade team has the exact same record winning over Burns 27-18 with Mitchell Birkhofer high with 9, Brandon Paxton 8, Derek Kauffman 6, Azriel Lozoya 6, and Gabe Brooks 2.

Kimball won over Morrill 26-11 with Paxton high with 8, Kauffman had 6, Birkhofer 4, and Brooks 2. Kimball lost to Mitchell 45-17. Paxton had 8, Birkhofer 3, Brooks 2, and Lozoya 2.
