Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Preparations are already beginning for an event which will take place in September 2021.
The event, which will be at the Fraternal Hall at 2nd and Chestnut streets in Kimball, is an exhibit that involves the Plains Historical Society and is sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution and the Nebraska Humanities Council.
The exhibit will focus on social, economic and population changes from 1900 to 2010. Rural areas held 40% of the U.S. population in 1900 compared to about 18% now.
The historical society is excited for this opportunity and will need some assistance from area communities. Kimball, along with six other sites in Nebraska, will host the exhibit.
The traveling exhibit is composed of five exhibition units, a video monitor, touchscreen interactive computer kiosks, an outdoor banner and support materials.
