Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The new alert system Panhandle Alert is up and running as of March 1, according to Linda Williams of the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office.
The website boasts “Panhandle Alert is the official emergency notification system used to communicate with community residents during emergencies.”
Williams said this alert system is significantly cheaper, faster and better than the last one.
The weather emergency notifications will go out in a much more timely fashion than previously because weather notifications will be automatically picked up and will not have to be typed by the dispatcher.
Rad closures notification will still go through the regular process.
