Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Good morning! From where I sit at the moment it is down right cold.
However, knowing our weather, it may be 70 degrees by the time this reaches your hands. I sincerely hope so!
Monday morning there were snow flurries reported in Cheyenne and Chadron. Bahh humbug. Good news is that we are slowly but surely beginning to open business back up. Churches too, and we really enjoyed getting back together this past week.
Common sense and some caution are definitely needed as we move about and most of us have no problem with that.
The Riverside Zoo has re-opened and will keep winter hours for awhile, seven days a week from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. These areas will remain closed for awhile yet: the petting zoo, splash pad, playground, and dino dig.
Many eating establishments are beginning to have dine in services, although I know getting supplies is a hardship for them.
Our progress my be slow, but it will be progress none the less.
Birthdays here this week are: Tyler Gifford, Michael Olsen, Stephanie Cooper, Brandon Stoddard, Brett Farro, and Erika Cochran. Happy Happy Birthday!
Anniversary couple of the week is Mr. & Mrs. Bill Gifford, congratulations!
School is winding down here. I am still not sure of graduation arrangements, but we will soon know and I will post them at that time.
Don’t Let Stress
‘Weigh’ You Down
Did you hear the story of the Psychology professor who walked into class one day holding a glass of water. Instead of the old “is my glass half full, or half empty” question, she asked, “How heavy is this glass of water that I am holding?”
Shouted answers ranged from 8 ounces to a few pounds. Now she began her lesson as she replied, “From my perspective it really doesn’t matter how much it weighs now as much as how long I hold it. If I hold it for a few minutes, no problem. If I hold it for an hour straight my arm most likely will begin to ache, and if I hold it for a whole day, my arm will most likely go numb, become paralyzed and I will no longer be able to hold it. The weight doesn’t matter, it doesn’t change but the longer I hold it, the heavier it gets.
“Our stress and worries are a lot like that. Thinking about them, at first, nothing happens. Thinking about them for awhile longer and they begin to ache a little. Think about them all day long and you become numb – they take over and you loose your peace and your joy.”
So let it go and have a great week! Take care until next time.
